VERDICT IN: FIRST MINISTER DID NOT BREACH MINISTERIAL CODE

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been cleared of breaching any of the provisions of the Ministerial Code by independent adjudicator James Hamilton QC.

He ruled that the claims made by the Tories (and various bedfellows) that said the First Minister broke the Ministerial Code, were simply wrong. He said he had found no evidence to suggest such a thing.

Mr Hamilton was given total access to all areas of the investigation, to areas that the most recent Holyrood inquiry were not given access to.

A spokesperson for the First Minister said: "The First Minister has always insisted she did not breach the code, only her political opponents and some still harbouring a grudge sadly claimed that she did, and the really dishonourable aspect of that is that they did so despite being in receipt of the knowledge that she hadn't done anything wrong.

"The First Minister has been completely exonerated, and perhaps now those who have been providing her opponents a platform from which to try and damage her, might want to think twice about their position and about whom they [previously] deemed to be trustworthy."
